TikTok walkthrough: OES

This project began by addressing a steep, uninviting grade at the curb that forced guests to enter through the neighbor’s driveway. We resolved this by adding steel-retained steps and repositioning the gate to create a direct and welcoming entry.

Inside the gate, we replaced the original broken pavers with gravel and created an intimate space with seating around a chiminea to enjoy chatting with neighbors or warming up on cool evenings.

The front door, set deep behind the gate, was often missed by first-time visitors. To address this, we introduced a brick pathway and planter to draw the eye and guide guests to the entrance. That same brick path now continues past an existing boardwalk and into the dining patio, transforming a once-forgotten pass-through to the carport into a vibrant gathering space.

String lights above and low-voltage lighting throughout highlight lush plantings and extend the use of the space well into the evening. Tucked quietly behind the carport and detached office, we converted the old play area into a private retreat complete with a cowboy pool and dense greenery for secluded escape from the outside world.
