The client had just moved into a modern home in East Austin he helped design and build and asked us to come up with a thoughtful landscape to complement it. There are three living spaces: the front, back, and courtyard. There was a need for privacy from neighbors and the street; we used three varieties of clumping bamboo to achieve this. The side yard had drainage issues, so we densely planted the area with inland sea oats and used river stone as a surface treatment. A second phase included installing an expanded metal privacy fence and rolling drive gate.
