coker residence

january 2017

We provided a level entry sequence to the front door from both the street and driveway parking. Pulling the screening away from the house, we lined the landing perpendicular to the house with low-growing hedge bamboo for privacy from the dining room windows. Since play was so important to the clients, we designed for front yard living spaces with a seating space on one landing and a bubbling fountain on the middle level. The gravel walkways and planting beds of Texas basalt and salt and pepper river stone provide texture and contrast with the grassy areas.  The backyard needed retained terraces as well, so three levels of grass surrounded by perimeter planting create a lush and private play space.
