[bracketed space] house

july 2016

architect: Matt Fajkus

general contractor: Brodie Builders
interior designer: Joel Mozersky

photographer: Charles Davis Smith

The landscape architecture on this spec house included steel-edged gravel planting beds, un-programmed turf areas in the front and around the pool, drought-tolerant vegetation, and landscape lighting. The design played off the gorgeous architecture with visual connectivity through the center of the house, where a grid of gulf muhly bunch grasses passes from front to backyard. The Texas basalt surface treatment gives a tonal contrast to the concrete steps and board-formed retaining walls. Strategic massing gives the property privacy while screening unwanted views, with consideration for seasonal interest throughout the year.
